1. US Government Seeks Maximum Sentence For Samourai Wallet founders

The Scoop🕵️‍♂️: The DOJ is seeking the statutory maximum (five years in prison) for Samourai Wallet co‑founders Keonne Rodriguez and William Hill, who pleaded guilty to conspiring to run an unlicensed money‑transmission service. Prosecutors argue the wallet’s privacy tools were deliberately marketed to darknet users to launder about $237 million, while the government dropped heavier money‑laundering and sanctions‑evasion charges in exchange for the plea.

2. Trump’s Huge Bitcoin Bet Misses the Mark

The Scoop🕵️‍♂️: In the summer of 2025, Trump Media and Technology Group poured roughly $2 billion into Bitcoin, giving President Trump an indirect stake of about $830 million. Some commented that the timing proved disastrous: Bitcoin slid 17% in the weeks that followed, slashing the value to roughly $1.7 billion and sending Trump Media’s stock down 19% in three days, erasing hundreds of millions from Trump’s personal fortune. However, Trump very likely understands the long-term play here, and the fact that he is going all-in is a strong bullish signal.
