Tribe Vibe - The Illusion Edition
From the mountains of AI slop to the growing realisation that much of what we have been taught is incomplete or outright untrue, it is becoming increasingly difficult to know what is real. Last week we wrote about The Man Behind the Curtain, a nod to the 1939 Wizard of Oz and the deeper meaning many believe lies hidden inside that tale. But pull back every curtain and you arrive at the same place: the lie woven into the lifeblood of our civilisation itself. Our means of exchange. Money. Or rather, the counterfeit we have been handed in its place: fiat currency.

📈 Trending News
1. BIP 110
The Scoop🕵️♂️: BIP-110 (Reduced Data Temporary Softfork) is a proposed one-year consensus soft fork designed to temporarily tighten rules on arbitrary non-monetary data in Bitcoin transactions. It targets larger OP_RETURN outputs, inscriptions, Ordinals, Runes, and similar uses by imposing stricter limits (e.g., capping certain data pushes) at the consensus level. Proposed by Dathon Ohm and supported mainly through Bitcoin Knots implementations by figures like Luke Dashjr, it remains in Draft status.
Why You Should Care🚨: As of late May 2026, the proposal has very low support: roughly 5–11% of nodes (mostly Knots users) and near-zero miner signaling. A mandatory lock-in is scheduled around early August 2026, which could lead to a limited “self-fork” where enforcing nodes reject non-compliant blocks, but the broader network is widely expected to continue on the original rules with minimal disruption. The debate has highlighted deep divisions over Bitcoin’s purpose, sound money vs. a flexible data layer, sparking strong opinions from all sides, including warnings from Adam Back and Michael Saylor about risks of confusion or precedent.
What does this mean for bitcoin?✨: BIP-110 is unlikely to activate meaningfully on the main economic chain due to insufficient hash rate support. It serves more as a visible stress test of Bitcoin’s governance: showing how the network resists changes without broad consensus while keeping the primary chain stable. Whether it fizzes out or creates a short-lived minority chain, the episode reinforces that Bitcoin’s direction is ultimately driven by economic incentives, miner behavior, and user adoption rather than any single proposal. The mainnet Bitcoin you hold and use today is expected to remain unaffected.

2. The Clarity Act
The Scoop🕵️♂️: The Clarity Act splits crypto oversight: CFTC handles commodities like Bitcoin and Ethereum, SEC oversees securities-like tokens. It passed the House in 2025 and advanced through the Senate Banking Committee in May 2026. Jamie Dimon, JPMorgan CEO, strongly opposes it, arguing crypto firms can offer yield on customer balances without full bank-level compliance protections.
Why You Should Care🚨: This is a traditional banking vs. crypto industry battle. Banks fear stablecoins will drain deposits if they offer competitive yields under lighter regulations. Crypto advocates say the Act is essential for growth and keeping U.S. innovation competitive instead of pushing activity offshore. Dimon's opposition could force amendments or delay the bill. N.B. stablecoins are not your friend.
What does this mean for bitcoin?✨: Bitcoin gets formal commodity status under CFTC oversight, removing SEC ambiguity. This supports institutional adoption, ETFs, and mainstream integration. Dimon's resistance actually underscores Bitcoin's growing threat to traditional finance. Even if delayed, the Act signals Bitcoin's inevitability as a competitor to banks.
🤖 Innovation Space
Bitcoiners are always building. VPNs (Virtual Private Networks) are critical to protecting your browsing activity from data brokers, nefarious actors and corrupt government agencies. If you have been frustrated by the increasing number of apps and websites that are attempting to block their use, you will love this latest tech from Bitcoiner “Calle”.
